Listings are categorized primarily by credential and physical location of practice. The Search Field searches through the listing Title, Description, Categories (credentials), and any Tags. There are four main top-level categories: Counselor, Psychologist, Social Worker, and Certification. Each category has sub-categories of specific credentials for that category, e.g. LCP or LCSW.

You can search listing details using the Advanced Search. You access the Advanced Search using the button with the Gear icon located next to the Search button. These options will narrow your search and can be quite specific. They can be used independently of the main search field or in combination with the main search field.

The search bar has a field specifically for searching locations. Locations can be searched Near or In. A Near search will for listings within a 50-mile radius of the location entered. For instance, if you enter ‘virginia’ into the Near Search field and click the search button, the search will return listings within 50 miles of the geographical center of Virginia. If you would like listings for the entire state of Virginia you would need to choose the In option for the search. Both Near and In options are autocompleted in the search field when you type into the field.

The Home menu item and the Reset Filter links on the search results page will reset all filters and present a new search bar.
